Program Description
For over 60 years, University of the Pacific’s Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has trained pharmacists who are problem-solvers, innovators and leaders. The School was the first in California to offer a three-year accelerated PharmD program. To continue Pacific’s legacy of innovation, we are excited to launch our newly updated curriculum. We firmly believe the redesigned curriculum will engage and better prepare a new generation of pharmacists. We have intentionally integrated active learning techniques in our courses to help you gain the knowledge and skills needed to become a well-rounded, highly competent health care provider. You will be immersed in pharmacy practice experiences including community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, ambulatory care and internal medicine. You will hone your communication skills through team projects, team-based learning and patient care simulations. Our capstone courses help solidify concepts, shaping you into a practice-ready pharmacist. Our graduates are in demand! We ranked in the top 10% nationally in postgraduate residencies for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Resident Matching Program.

Letter of Recommendation Requirements
| General Information | Pacific requires two recommendations: 1.) A recommendation from a professor is required. It must be from a school you have attended within the last three years. 2.) You may choose to have any other professional complete the second rating form as long as the person is not a family member. We highly recommend that a science professor and a pharmacist be chosen as your recommenders. In all cases, the PharmCAS rating form is required. If you submit more than the required two, we will take all recommendations into consideration. Be sure you have met our requirement before selecting additional recommenders |

| Details: | Competitive students are invited to campus to interview with one faculty member and one currently enrolled PharmD student. There is also a writing sample that is required to be submitted at the interview. Students will be given a question and asked to write their opinion on the topic. Candidates will also be given a presentation of school organizations and activities, and a tour of the School of Pharmacy. Candidates will have ample time to speak to currently enrolled Pharmacy students. |
