The COP offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree, which is a 2 + 4 program. Students must complete 2 years of pre-professional study, which includes general education courses as well as prescriptive courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and math. This is followed by 4 years in the COP at SWOSU in the professional Pharm.D. program, which includes didactic and experiential courses in the pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice as well as a final year of full-time structured advanced pharmacy practice experiences at off-campus pharmacy practice sites.
The Admissions Committee rely heavily on interview criteria, objective data, performance in required math & science courses, overall GPA, PCAT scores, and ACT or SAT scores are significant. Students are admitted to the professional Pharm.D. program in the Fall and Spring. Approximately eighty-five students are admitted to the professional Pharm.D. program each year.
Faculty in the COP provide instruction in all the courses in the professional Pharm.D. program. Graduates of the COP at SWOSU continue to perform above average on the NAPLEX, the national licensing examination for pharmacy.
